Human hair behaves like your own hair. Treat it the same way and it stays smooth.
Washing
Use a mild, sulfate-free shampoo and cool water. Soak gently — do not twist, wring or scrub the hair, and never brush it while it is wet.
Work from the roots down, rinse until the water runs clear, then apply conditioner. Leave it for a few minutes and rinse again.
Drying
Press the water out with a towel instead of rubbing, then let it air dry. If you use a dryer, keep it on a cool or low setting.
Heat styling
The hair can be straightened, curled and blow dried. Use a heat protectant, keep your tools on a moderate setting, and let the hair cool before you comb through it.
Color and bleach
The hair is unprocessed, so it takes color and bleach. Test on a small strand first, and go gently — the same advice you would follow on your own hair.
Storing it
When you are not wearing it, tie it loosely, lay it flat or hang it, and keep it away from direct sun. Do not store it damp, and do not seal it in plastic.
A few things worth knowing
Tangling at the ends is normal, especially on longer lengths — the oldest part of the hair is the driest. A little leave-in conditioner and a slow comb from the tips upwards handles most of it.
Sleep with your hair tied back loosely to cut down on friction, and use a silk or satin pillowcase if you have one.
